Greylock® Names Asheem Chandna As Venture Partner

Greylock®, one of the nation's leading early-stage venture capital firms, today announced the appointment of Asheem Chandna as venture partner. Chandna, formerly a senior executive with Check Point Software Technologies (NASDAQ: CHKP), will focus on software and systems investment opportunities from Greylock's Bay Area offices. Chandna's appointment highlights Greylock's ongoing commitment to global early-stage investment opportunities in enterprise software and communications sectors, and continues the firm's 38-year heritage of helping to build world-class enterprises.

Asheem Chandna has over 15 years of distinguished experience in operating roles helping create, grow and lead multiple product lines and businesses to industry leadership positions.

Prior to Greylock, Chandna was vice-president of business development and product management with Check Point Software Technologies, the worldwide leader in Internet security infrastructure (firewalls/VPNs). During his six year tenure, Check Point experienced exceptional growth and profitability – annual revenue grew almost twenty-fold to over $528 million and company net margin increased to over 60% after tax, making Check Point one of the world's fastest growing and most profitable companies. Chandna founded the business development and product management organizations, led corporate marketing during high growth years and was responsible at an executive-level for leading Check Point's product/business strategy, product management and industry partnerships. Chandna is also credited with creating, growing and leading Check Point’s OPSEC Alliance into the largest and most successful security partner program in the IT industry.

Prior to Check Point, Chandna was vice-president of marketing with CoroNet Systems, a venture-backed startup acquired by Compuware, where he helped create and define a new product category for application-aware network monitoring. Previously, he held strategic marketing and product line positions with SynOptics/Bay Networks and AT&T Bell Laboratories.

Chandna currently serves on the board of directors at Sourcefire and WebCohort, and was previously on the board of directors at NetBoost (acquired by Intel). He grew up in India and holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
