Congratulations to Greylock portfolio companies Predibase and Rubrik on their announcement: Rubrik has entered into an agreement to acquire Predibase.
This powerful combination brings together optimized, fine-tuned AI models and robust, governed data, designed to support enterprises worldwide in securely and rapidly deploying agentic AI.
At Greylock, deep relationships with exceptional founders underpins everything we do. We’ve known Dev Rishi, Predibase CEO, for years (in fact, we tried to recruit him to Greylock when we first met!) and admired his work as an AI leader at Google Cloud. Separately, we were close followers of the outstanding contributions of Piero Molino and Travis Addair as key architects of Uber’s AI platform and important open-source AI projects like Ludwig and Horovod. The three of them founded Predibase in 2021 and Greylock led the seed round at company inception.
We wrote in our initial investment memo that “the Predibase team’s distinguished technical talents will enable them to make AI developers’ lives easier.” Predibase has since built a leading platform for fine-tuning and serving open-source AI, powered by their Turbo and LoRA eXchange which enable enterprises like Qualcomm, Marsh McLennan, Checkr and many others to deploy customized AI solutions at scale.
As part of Rubrik, Predibase’s fine‑tuning and high‑throughput serving stack will combine with Rubrik’s secure data lake to help thousands of enterprises move agentic AI from proof‑of‑concept to production up to 8× faster—and do so with automated data governance built in. We look forward to cheering on Rubrik and Predibase as they aim to bring simple, secure, and effective agentic AI to enterprises everywhere.
