David partners with mission-driven founders who are building compelling products targeting consumers and business users. His investment focus areas include productivity and business applications, marketplaces, and gaming.
Since joining Greylock in 2020, David has led investments in startups that are improving how we work such as Magical, Instawork, and AmplifyMD; marketplaces like Curated and HeadRace; and the gaming infrastructure company Pragma. He has also led investments in Wealthsimple and several other unannounced companies.
With an extensive background in senior product leadership roles across both consumer and enterprise technology, David brings unique insights to company-building, product development and go-to-market strategy. He has built out products and new businesses for some of the most iconic companies in the world, including Google and LinkedIn. At Greylock he works closely with early-stage founders on finding product-market fit, building the right team, and creating a durable business.
Immediately prior to joining Greylock, David served as VP of Product Management & User Experience at Google. He led a team of over three hundred product managers, designers, and user researchers responsible for Google’s productivity and collaboration products (Google Workspace) including Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet and several others. During David’s tenure overseeing these cloud applications, his team launched a number of innovative AI product features, scaling usage of these products to 2 billion active users. He also led targeted efforts to increase business adoption of Google Workspace which helped drive the rapid growth of the Google Cloud business.
Prior to Google, David managed products across LinkedIn’s business lines including Premium Subscriptions, Talent Solutions, Marketing Solutions and Sales Solutions. These products included a mix of enterprise SaaS tools, advertising products, and consumer subscriptions — generating about $4B in annualized revenue at the time. David’s product team focused on leveraging AI combined with LinkedIn’s proprietary data to create unique product experiences for LinkedIn’s members and customers. He was also involved in pivotal company moments such as Microsoft’s 2016 acquisition of LinkedIn.
Earlier in his career, David served on the Greylock investing team from 2009-2011. His sound judgment, independent thinking and hustle were key factors in several very successful investments such as Redfin, Pandora, and TellApart.
David grew up in Austin, Texas and holds a B.A. in Computer Science and Economics from Duke University. He earned his MBA from Harvard Business School.
He is the co-inventor of thirteen United States patents, including a number of AI-powered product features.
