Deep Tech
Deep tech founders build where the moat is the science itself: autonomous systems, biotech, robotics, quantum computing, advanced materials, energy, and physical infrastructure. These companies demand conviction and patience through years of rigorous development before a breakthrough reaches the market.
Greylock has supported companies like Aurora and Nuro at this frontier and is seeking founders with the ambition to push the boundaries of what is possible.

CHRIS URMSON // AURORA
Self-driving freight is here.
Chris Urmson, Sterling Anderson, and Drew Bagnell founded Aurora in 2017 after leading autonomous driving programs at Google, Tesla, and Uber. They focused on long-haul trucking, where freight volumes are exploding and the driver shortage has no conventional solution. Greylock co-led Aurora's Series A at a time when the autonomous industry had invested $80 billion with no commercial deployment to show for it. Today, Aurora's driverless trucks are commercially hauling loads across Texas for customers including FedEx, Uber Freight, and Werner, and are expanding across the US Sun Belt.

DAVE FERGUSON & JIAJUN ZHU // NURO
A universal autonomy platform for all roads and all rides.
While the rest of the autonomous industry raced to build robotaxis in 2016, Nuro's founders Dave Ferguson and Jiajun Zhu started with last-mile delivery, designing a purpose-built vehicle to deliver groceries, food, and packages. Greylock led Nuro's first round of funding. Today, Nuro is building a universal autonomy platform powering robotaxis, commercial fleets, and personal vehicles, partnering with Uber and Lucid to deploy over 20,000 autonomous vehicles on the world's largest mobility network.
