We’re excited to announce Sophia Luo is the newest member of Greylock’s investing team.
Sophia will focus on working with founders building new AI-native applications and enabling infrastructure.
Sophia has spent her career working at AI startups in both product and engineering roles. Most recently she was at Character.AI, which she joined as the 5th product engineer. She worked on both the core product and growth teams at Character, and was responsible for driving top line engagement and new user metrics.
Before Character, Sophia was part of the MIT contingent that went to Scale AI in the early days. She started as an early engineer at Scale and later transitioned into product management, spearheading the development and launch of several new product offerings, including Scale’s Generative AI Data Engine. While at Scale, she also built the company’s university recruiting program from the ground up and played a key role in helping build out the engineering team and culture.
Sophia is no stranger to early-stage company investing. Her passion for helping founders and desire to learn about new technologies and businesses made her a natural fit for angel investing, where she was fortunate to write early checks into multiple AI companies including Cognition and Mercor.
When we first met Sophia, we were drawn to her infectious energy, ambition and competitive spirit, and technology chops. It’s not every day you meet someone who graduated from MIT with three degrees in just four years, who was a nationally ranked chess player by age 8, and also does amazing creative drawing as a pastime.
We’re in the early innings of AI and the transformation it will have on how we work and live. We at Greylock believe it’s an unprecedented time to be partnering with founders to help build the products and companies that will power our intelligent future.
