The Generative AI era presents an unprecedented opportunity to reshape software engineering.
This future isn’t about AI replacing engineers; it’s about AI and humans working together to amplify productivity by 100x, enabling engineers to focus on what they do best: innovating and building.
While early AI applications in software engineering show promise, many are missing the broader potential. These tools often focus on assisting with new feature development, yet the reality is that engineers spend up to 90% of their time understanding production code, maintaining systems, and ensuring reliability. This critical but tedious work often requires engineers to be on-call for stressful incidents, leading to burnout, turnover, and lost productivity. There’s a tremendous opportunity to create tools that autonomously manage this operational burden, enabling engineers to operate systems at a higher level and in turn, significantly improve the velocity and efficiency of software development and operations.
Today, we’re excited to announce that Greylock is leading the $35M Series Seed in Resolve AI, a company on a mission to unlock engineers’ full potential by eliminating operational toil and empowering them to focus on what they love — innovation. Resolve is unveiling the world’s first AI production engineer, which autonomously troubleshoots, and resolves production issues, significantly reducing mean time to resolution (MTTR) and dramatically accelerating engineering teams’ productivity.
Resolve has built an agentic platform that works seamlessly with tools like AWS, Kubernetes, observability stacks, GitHub, and Slack—just like a human engineer would. The platform constructs a comprehensive knowledge graph of a company’s production environment, which its AI agent leverages to troubleshoot incidents, analyze source code changes, detect anomalies, query logs, and suggest remediation actions, often within minutes of an alert. Resolve also acts as an always-on partner, handling operational tasks such as answering natural language queries, translating them into observability actions, integrating data from multiple platforms, testing hypotheses, and remediating issues.
The buzz around agentic AI for software engineering is undeniable. While many tools look impressive in demos, most are still in beta or being piloted on a limited scale. In this regard, Resolve stands apart. In just six months, its product is already trusted by leading enterprises like DataStax, Uni, and Background, providing immediate value and positioning itself as a leader in the AI engineering space.
Resolve AI is founded by Spiros Xanthos and Mayank Agarwal, highly distinguished and accomplished serial entrepreneurs who have previously built multiple companies including two successful exits to VMWare and Splunk. Most recently, they founded Omnition, which was acquired by Splunk, where they led the observability business as General Manager and Chief Architect respectively. They also co-created OpenTelemetry, the most widely adopted open-source observability project. Their rare combination of expertise in observability and AI positions them perfectly to tackle this important problem, and they have built an impressive senior engineering team.
We’re honored to lead Resolve’s seed round alongside co-investors including Unusual Ventures and a stellar group of angel investors, including founders, CEOs, and executives from companies like OpenAI, Google, GitHub, AWS, Ramp, Notion, LinkedIn, and Snowflake.
Resolve joins a distinguished group of observability and infrastructure companies that Greylock has partnered with from their earliest stages, including AppDynamics, Abnormal, Cribl, Chronosphere, Palo Alto Networks, and Sumo Logic.
